| Posted: 26 Mar 2015 06:06 AM PDT An Update on the Campus Crossroads ProjectJust 48 hours after the lights went out on Saturday, November 22nd, following Notre Dame’s final home game of the 2014 season against Louisville, Notre Dame Stadium looked much different. Construction fences were put in place, equipment was brought in, and crews quickly went to work on the largest building initiative in Notre Dame’s 172-year history. The $400 million project includes construction of more than 750,000 square feet of classroom, research, student facility, digital media, performance, meeting, event, and hospitality space.The facilities will be housed in three buildings attached to the west, east, and south sides of the University's iconic football stadium. Now, four months into construction, the 33-month project is on schedule to be completed prior to the opening of the 2017 Football season. The University was happy to recently announce Commencement will be held in the Stadium this year. Due to the progress of the Campus Crossroads Project, Notre Dame will be able to temporarily halt construction to prepare for and celebrate the Class of 2015’s Commencement ceremony, utilizing a small portion of the Stadium.
