Tailgating at Notre Dame

Posted: 15 Oct 2015 07:53 AM PDT

Are you prepared for tailgating?

2015

As the team prepares for game day against USC on October 17th, fans from all over will prepare to make their way to Notre Dame to spend the day tailgating on campus. As you begin to pack your cars, RV's, and buses with all the essentials for the day make sure you know what to bring and what not to bring. Our lots open at 8 AM!

Here are a few important things to know about tailgating before you pack up for Game Day to make your day is enjoyable:

Where to Go:
Plan ahead check out the different parking areas available around campus. Whether you have a parking pass or not, be sure to follow the signage to your destination lot. If you are traveling with multiple cars make sure everyone arrives at the same time, as holding adjacent spots for others is not allowed. Be sure that each car has a parking pass, as one pass permits one vehicle into the lot.

What to Wear:
Depending on the weather, sunscreen, ponchos and layers can be important items to pack on Game Days! Check the weather before heading to campus so you’re prepared for the day.

Tailgating Prohibited Items:

When planning for your tailgate, please note the following is NOT permitted:

  • Charcoal Grills
  • Deep Fryers
  • Propane Cylinders larger then 20lbs
  • Amplified Sound – Speakers that stand alone, are excessively loud, or are connected to an amplifier
  • Open flames (i.e. fire pits)
  • Kegs
  • Box trucks, motorcycles, over-sized vans
  • Stakes
  • While on the campus of Notre Dame, selling of items is not permitted

Safety and security rules will be strictly enforced and violators may be revoked for failing to comply. Future ticket privileges may be revoked.

Permitted Items:

  • Propane grills are permitted, but gas cylinders must be under 20lbs.
  • Tents

Have Fun!

At the end of the day, you're there for one simple reason – to enjoy Game Day! You take care of packing the car and grilling the burgers. Our Guest Services team, parking staff, police officers, and University staff will take care of the rest!

In Case of Emergency

In the event of an emergency, let a uniformed security officer or lot supervisor know right away. Notre Dame Security Police can be reached at (574) 631-5555, or you can also text IRISH and the issue to 69050.

We also encourage that if you see something, say something! If something raises your concern for any reason, please call or text to let us know and our Notre Dame Security Police will look into the situation right away. Our staff is ready to help and they are only one call or text away!
