Looking to hear the beautiful music of the Notre Dame Band? Make plans this weekend, when hundreds of fans fill the second floor rotunda of the Main Building to catch the Notre Dame Trumpets play under the Dome.

trumpets

Fans fill the rings of the third and fourth floors of the Dome to look down at the Trumpets on the second floor as they play the Alma Mater and the Victory March. It’s a great way to welcome fans and the arrival of a Notre Dame Football weekend.

Be sure to visit the Main Building when you’re on campus. Friday, October 9th at 4:10 PM. Can’t make it Friday? Catch “Trumpets Under the Dome” on Saturday, October 10th at 2:30 PM.

Where to eat at Notre Dame on Football Weekends?

Dorm Barbecues

Here’s another distinctly Notre Dame Game Day eating option. Look for the bright yellow saw horses, blue plywood tables and large amounts of billowing smoke and grab a burger, brat, or hot dog. Your purchase helps support the general funds of the dorms and student groups running the stand.

Where? All over campus.

When? All day and right up to Game Time.

The Knights of Columbus Steak Sandwich

It’s tough to beat a thick, juicy steak, straight off the hot coals, slapped between two buns and handed to you on a napkin. Slather it with A1 sauce and you’ll understand why the lines stretch from South Quad to Sorin Hall. When it comes to good eating, the KofC Steak Sandwich is a Notre Dame Game Day tradition that is second to none. A steak sandwich and drink costs just $6, and all profits go to charity, including Corvilla and Gibault. Over a quarter of a million dollars has been raised in the last five years alone.

Where? Served before the game on South Quad in front of the Knights of Columbus Building, but it’s just easier to look for the long lines of football fans. (Or the guy in full body paint and a fright wig sitting on a ladder with a megaphone yelling “STEAK SANDWICHES!”)

When? Sandwiches are available from 10:00 a.m. until 30 minutes before kickoff, but the Steak Sandwich is a perfect stop on the trek from the Player Walk to the Bond Hall Concert on the Steps.
